Waqar named bowling coach of national cricket team....

Former captain and legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis has been appointed as the bowling and fielding coach of the national cricket team for the upcoming Pakistan-Australia Test and ODI series. Waqar in 2007 had resigned as Pakistan bowling coach in protest at only being asked on the South Africa tour for the Tests and not the one-dayers and announced his decision hours before he was due to leave for South Africa, where Pakistan were to play three Tests and five one-dayers.

Yousuf retains captaincy for Australia series....

Veteran batsman Mohammad Yousuf has been retained as captain of the Pakistan team for the forthcoming Australia series.
The Pakistan Cricket Board, Tuesday, appointed Yousuf as the Test and ODI captain for the upcoming Australia tour, while former captain Younus Khan has been dropped from the team.
Kamran Akmal and Shahid Afridi will be the vice-captains for Tests and ODIs respectively. Afridi, however, will continue to lead Pakistan in the T20 format.
Younus, after his return, was meant to play domestic cricket but the former skipper missed the 7th, 8th and 9th round of the domestic league (rounds 10 and 11 still remaining). Due to this reason and his unavailability Younus has been dropped from the Pakistan team.
“Younus wanted to rest but he didn’t play in the domestic cricket since the one-day series against New Zealand,” chief selector Iqbal Qasim said. “He didn’t assured his availability to us and therefore we did not select him.”
“He (Younus) can stage comeback by performing in the domestic cricket and his career is not over yet,” he added.
“It wont be appropriate to declared Younus dropped from the team because he was already out of the team even for the New Zealand series.
He was advised to play in the domestic cricket but he stayed away from the prestigious home tournament that’s why he was not considered for selection,” he added.
“He has to regain his form at home tournaments to be considered for selection for the national team,” he added.
He also put question mark on the performance of Shoaib Malik but said they did not see any suitable replacement as yet and he would be retained in the team on grounds of experience.
On Khurrum Manzoor, the chief selector said that he failed in just one match and his performance cannot be judged on the basis of that.

President Zardari 'is a billionaire?????

President Asif Zardari of Pakistan is a billionaire with a vast global empire built on property and investments, the country's Supreme Court has heard.
His fortune was allegedly accumulated during his late wife Benazir Bhutto’s two terms of government when he became known as “Mr Ten Per Cent”. It was the subject of a series of corruption cases until they were dropped under an amnesty to allow the late Miss Bhutto and her supporters to return to Pakistan.
The Supreme Court in Islamabad is now due to rule on whether the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), under which corruption and murder cases against more than 8,000 politicians, civil servants and other public figures were dropped, is unconstitutional.
If it does, Pakistan will be plunged into a new political crisis with Mr Zardari and some of his leading supporters facing corruption allegations they believed were behind them.
A glimpse of what those cases might look like if they come to court was offered in the court when the government’s National Accountability Bureau claimed in written testimony on Monday that Mr Zardari owned homes and estates throughout the world, including Britain, where he paid £4.35 million for an estate in 1995 which was dubbed by critics as his “Surrey Palace”.
Neighbours at the time claimed he had built his own private polo ground on the 350-acre estate and recreated the local village pub in one of its suites.

PML-N will not support any conspiracy against government!!!

Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif says he will not become a part of any conspiracy against the government, reported Dunya News.

Sharif maintained PML-N wants 17th amendment to be repealed. “Parliament is needed to be strengthened and we will respect mandate of others as per the Charter of Democracy,” Sharif added. He vowed to resist every conspiracy against the government. “Entire nation is passing through testing times right now,” he added.
